Looking for options on private lodging for early October. Any recommendations?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Olivares,

El Burgo Raneros is not exactly the hub of the universe! I usually stay in the municipal albergue Domenico Laffi on the plaza Mayor. Directly opposite is El Perigrino a small hostal with simple rooms above a bar/restaurant. Tel 987 330 069. When the albergue was closed for recent renovations this provided an affordable alternative.

For a small town of about 200 there are quite a few possibilites. The municipal that Margaret mentioned has 30 beds and a large, fully equipt kitchen. Internet is also available and wifi in the 2 bars across the street. I was there for 2 weeks in July as a hospitalera and pilgrims were pleased with the albergue. But if you are still interested in private accommodations, the 2 bars also offer rooms (El Peregrino mentioned above and Las Piedras Blancas tel: 987-33-00-94 / 607-16-39-82). In addition the owner of Las Piedras Blancas has a private albergue called La Laguna. A 5th option is another private albergue called El Nogal: tel 627-22-93-31.
Hope that this helps!

Margaret, LTFit-- many thanks for your kind replies. Very helpful, indeed.

I had a great experience in the private albergue Santa Clara in Bercianos del Real Camino about 8 km before El Burgo Ranero.

Follow-up-- I called Hostal Piedras Blancas in El Burgo Ranero and plan to stay there. Codecables-- I am taking in the recommendation you offer as a backup plan. Many thanks.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

That's a very good place . I was a hospitelero at Bercianos last October and I can recommend the Donativo albergue . Hospiteleros provide breakfast and evening meal and with an Oracion at 8pm - the donations go towards the next nights meal and the upkeep of the 17th century building . The floor is amazing and made up of polished stones laid 100's of years ago . It's a beautiful , soulful place .
