Has anyone stayed here recently? Looks like the only cheaper option, but the last review on Gronze is from July 2022, stating that the albergue is closed...

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I’ve been there some years ago (2018) and my impression was not that bad. Well, the hospitalero behaved a little bit like a master seargant but I don’t know if it is still the same person. All in all it was OK.
When I look at Gronce now it appears to me that they are open.

Thanks! It is just so strange that there aren't any recent reviews. And the older reviews are quite mixed. I can of course send them a message to ask if they are open, but it would be nice to hear about any recent experiences.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Hi
I stayed there in April and it was quite ok. An older couple run the albergue but it is clean and welcoming.
Buen camino

Last season they were in need of staff and was closed down, as well as they usually are closed in winter season.
Good to hear it is open again
Stayed here a couple of times

Don't go by when albergues are reviewed in Gronze. I try to write reviews wherever I stay. I have opened a comment section in many albergues, especially on less traveled routes, and noticed that the newest review was a few years old. Gronze lists it as open. Although never 100% accurate it is a good indicator. You can always call.

I arrived there in October 2022 and found it closed. The gentleman who lives beside the albergue led me up the hill opposite the albergue to Hostal San Francisco. Singe room with bathroom and there is a bar/cafe on the ground floor. Well worth the climb up to the castle and village on the other side of the river.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
