Question about ALSA route to Merida from Santiago

Time of past OR future Camino
2006 to date: Over 21 Caminos. See signature line
I did a search on the ALSA website for a bus traveling from Santiago to Merida.
The only bus I could find left Santiago at 4pm and arrived in Merida about 2:30 am.

But then, I did a search from Santiago to Salamanca.
There is a bus leaving SAntiago at 8:30 am and arriving in Salamanca around 2:25 pm.
THEN there is a bus leaving Salamanca at 2:25 pm arriving in Merida at 7:15 pm.

I don't understand this.
Is this the same bus?
Do I have to change buses in Salamanca and perhaps not make the connection?
Is there any way to check this out?

Help anyone?

We really don't want to arrive somewhere at 2:30 in the morning...
