Question for Sil and other Fall walkers -- what's the best t

I've always walked in May (and little bits of April and June), but this year it looks like I might be able to walk in the fall and will have total flexibility in dates. My main concern is the crowding, and also trying to make an intelligent guess about the greatest likelihood of decent weather (though I know it's totally unpredictable). So if you've walked in the fall, what would you recommend based on your experience?

By the way, I went back to Sil's blog to see if I found any mention of crowds (I just quickly skimmed it, but didn't see any complaints or observations) and there are some great recent postings with pictures -- of fountains, of arrows, those things that we see so many times and usually don't even notice. Nice job, Sil.

I also walked this past September. Yes, the Camino was crowded & albergues filled up quickly. What I ended up doing (along with the women I ended up walking with) was to walk about 20kms/day. This allowed us to take our time & see things along the way, stop in the towns for a coffee or quick bite to eat. With the exception of 3 nights (Ventosa, Villafranca Montes de Oca, & Hornillos), everyone was able to find a place to stay without having to push on. I loved the weather--cool & dry, except for one day outside of Burgos.
