We could not get an earlier train to Madrid tomorrow and will be travelling over supper, arriving at 11pm. We change at Ourense.
Is anyone familiar with this option and able to say if we can purchase food in a dining car? Or do we need to carry some with us?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Same as on Camino while walking, Morgan. Always carry some snacks/bocadillo/water etc. It will also be much less expensive.
I didn't take SdC-Madrid direct train because I stopped in Leon (and two days later on to Madrid) but I don't remember any restaurant car on both rides.

EDIT: It will be quite easy to find a decent supper in Madrid after 11pm though.

renfe site says no dining car, so take food & drinks with you.

Thanks. My site says even the tourist ticket gives access to the dining car but I did not trust the info.
