Questions about albergue in Outeiro (Ponte Ulla)

I am working on revisions for the forum Invierno guide. As you may know, the Invierno merges with the Sanabrés in A Laxe, right at the albergue door. I think most of what I have is up to date, but I have questions about the albergue in Outeiro (up the hill from Ponte Ulla).

The last time I walked through there, the hospitalera was the one I had had before. She was a little fussy but perfectly nice, and had a little hut out back with her own little kitchen in it. She served (pricey and not so great) meals to pilgrims in the evening. I have read somewhere that there may be a new hospitalera and that the hut is definitely not there anymore. I would appreciate updated info on this, and also on the question whether nearby restaurants deliver food to the albergue. I know they did back in the day before this "hospitalera with a hut", but had stopped while she was there. I am betting the albergue kitchen continues to have virtually nothing but te stove, sink, and refrigerator.

Pazo de Galegos is a nice, if pricey, option (short walk downhill), and I believe several pilgrims reported eating a meal there while sleepig in the albergue.

Laurie, I was there in April of 2017. I wish I had better notes. I think I remember a microwave, but I would love it if someone would confirm this! I did not look for a "hut" but did not see one. Only one other pilgrim there with me and I believe both of us had eaten well before arriving, and brought some food, so we did not ask the hospitalera about dinner options. My main memory is the annoying automatic lights, which would not turn on when needed (in the common area when trying to eat snack and read) and then turn on when not needed (when trying to sneak out of the dorm a little before my fellow perigrina). I appreciate your efforts!

Hi Laurie, I stayed there June 2017. Never saw no hut out the back! Some of us went down the hill and ate at Pazo de Galegos, while some definitely cooked in the albergue. There is a microwave and there were a few pots and pans etc. I don't know if Pazo de Galegos delivers to the albergue though.

Hi Laurie. Thanks for all your work on this forum. I stayed there May 2017. (Hi Davey. I knew you were behind me taking a leisurely walk. Glad you made it. Hope to see you again someday.) No hut. I think the lady lives in that nearby house. She came in late afternoon to do all the processing. No food offered by her. I spoke earlier with a Pilgrim who was staying at some other place nearby, probably Pazo de Galego. My shin splint was hurting so I didn’t do any more walking than necessary. Everyone (about a dozen) cooked for themselves at the albergue. I don’t think any of us know of other meal locations. It’s a modern looking building, not your typical albergue. Automatic lights – bad (but efficient). We looked all over for the “OFF” switch, but there are none. Open dorm showers were cold at start, then too hot. Could not regulate them. You push on the valve and it stays on for a period of time, and then shuts off. Yes microwave. Yes Stove. Yes pots and pans. Yes vending machine. NO REFRIGERATOR!
PS. Spanish translation of Outeiro means "only one more night".
