Quickest way to Estella from Madrid or Bilbao or Lourdes

Time of past OR future Camino
Yes
Hi, I'm flying from Milan on the 24th of July and I want to get to Estella to take up the Camino from where I left off last year. Based on cost and time of flights I'm considering flying either from Milan to Madrid (arriving at 13.50) or Milan to Bilbao (arriving at 16.00) or Milan to Lourdes (arriving at 17.20). I really want to get to Estella on the evening of the 24th so that I can start walking the next day as I only have 5 days walking available to me. Obviously the quickest way of getting to Estella is the most appealing (but I could never afford a taxi on my own!!).
I'm sorry to not be able to figure this out, but can anyone let me know if the time-frame would allow me to get public transport (or better still, a shared taxi if there are others travelling this time - I would be delighted to meet up with others!) so that I can arrive in Estella by the evening. When i look into a lot of links of public transport I can't get over the language barrier and don't know which airport I'm best flying into.
Thank you so much for helping me!
Also, if anyone can recommend a good friendly hostel in Estella where it's easier to meet people (maybe they have a communal meal together, but then again maybe I wouldn't arrive in, on time for this??).
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me and share your tips!
Thanks again,
Sandra

Your best bet is flying to Madrid.

www.alsa.es
Then from Airport the Alsa bus to Logroño. 15.15 departing Madrid arriving at 19.00 in Logroño. Price = 42.90€
Then in Logroño bus to Estella with company Samar at 19.15 arriving in Estella at 20.05.

La Estellesa also has buses to Estella but latest from Logroño leaves at 19.00.

Buen Camino!

To help you choose where you might stay in Estella here is the Spanish Gronze.com list of all accomodations. Tap on each citation to see address/facilities, etc. Booking.com links are also provided.

Happy planning and Buen camino!

The ALSA buses to Pamplona stop at Estella. When I was hospitalero during Oct 2015 in Estella there were no albergues providing dinner, but there are few restaurants in the town centre providing meals. Ask the hospitalero at your albergue/hostal for exact locations.

Hi - I've been waiting to book 2 June from Santiago dC to Madrid - finally the tickets are out! Funnily enough the luxury seats were cheaper than economy seats, so I took one.
I’m planning to send to Santiago a smaller bag with things I need for the flight, extra days pre/post Camino, and whatever else I decide that I won’t need. I could send it from Roncesvalles...
