According to the pilgrim's office statistics for 2019, of the 15 countries most represented on the Camino de Santiago in terms of receiving compostelas, nine were European countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, UK, Ireland, Poland, the Netherlands). Can you guess the remaining six countries from outside Europe in the top 15?

As sixth I would add Mexico, just on my obervations of the last years when I saw large groups of Mexican pilgrims walking parts of the Frances. The Botufameiro was always in action when I visiited the cathedral. Every time paid by Mexican pilgrims.

The first six would be also my choice, although I'd put New Zealand between Canada and Australia.
I had a look when I was doing my analysis of growth (or not) along the Frances and so I know the answer but I was sure that NZ would NOT be in the top 6 and that is correct. We are very vocal here on the Forum but we are also very small in number.... Sorry for the partial spoiler.

OK, time to end the suspense!

Per @Kathar1na's chart (and including the subsequent responses), everyone correctly included USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil and South Korea. It's the 6th one that proved tricky! (Especially for @VNwalking! ;) )

The correct answer has been listed but @Doughnut NZ is indeed right that it is not New Zealand. That leaves Argentina, South Africa and Mexico as the possibilities. And the correct answer is ... Mexico!

That means our winner is quiz specialist @SabineP! Congrats and thanks for playing everyone!

Hehe..sometimes I surprise myself with my deduction skills. The fact that I thought New Zealand was not in the list was indeed because of the small numbers. Bigger numbers for Mexico and predominantly a catholic country.

Thanks @jungleboy for this. This quizzer loves it!

@VNwalking : I'm ok with my favourite Trappist beer, the Orval.... ;)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I had 5 correct. I threw in Japan because I have met more Japanese people than new Zelanders. It is Mexico. Shame on me for getting that wrong as I have lived in Mexico for the last 7 years ugggg

Possibly the six least represented...🤷
Mongolia
Guam
Gilligan's Island
Narnia
Greenland
Pakistan

Well it does beg the question. Of the real places you listed, Pakistan had 7 pilgrims in 2019, Greenland had 5 and Mongolia had 2. Guam was not listed but I'm not sure if pilgrims would be counted as being from Guam or the USA. There were 20 different countries with just one pilgrim in 2019. (And look, Quiz No. 3 just created itself!)

P.S. Narnia had several on the Invierno.

Love this @jungleboy! How very interesting! And thanks for indulging me in my "off the wall" humor!
