The Refugio Guacelmo is one of my favorites - my wife's too! It has been closed since Covid hit. Their website which is manned by volunteers presumably, suggests that they MAY open this year. Does anyone know their status? I would really enjoy staying there when I pass in April. And in regard to my Camino which I am starting on March 30 from SJPP, my third eldest son surprised me just yesterday with the news that he will joining me for a week from Sahagun to Villafranca del Bierizo - what a joy! He will meet me on Good Friday so will experience some of Semana Santa.
He had walked the AT (Appalachian Trail) as a thru-hiker over 5 months a few years back. I certainly hope I can keep up with him!!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
The most recent post on their Facebook page says that they hope to open on 1 April 2022. Given that Covid is still around and the situation may change again at short notice I'd be surprised if there was any more definite word yet.

Sorry I don't have info on the refugio but I want to wish you and your son a Buen Camino! Walking with him during Easter Week is indeed a blessing!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thanks so much for this!! Great to hear!
I'm afraid I can't even spell facebook so thanks again for looking.

Hello, try contacting CSJ, the Confraternity of St James in London - email: office@csj.org.uk - it’s one of their refugios. It’s also one of my favourites! Buen Camino.

Good advice. St this stage they plan to open here and Miraz. But things change, as we know.
