Hello friends,
For many small businesses that care for pilgrims along the Camino, things are challenging at the moment without a clear sign when there could be some relief. Luckily, the Camino has taught us how to be resourceful, to look for the silver lining (hot shower, warm fire, good company), and also how to come together when there is a need. Thank you for being here and asking what you can do to help from home.
My name is Kim and I have a small guest house on the Camino Frances called The Stone Boat. The house is located in the village of Rabanal del Camino, 8km before the Cruz de Ferro. I have created the space specifically to support pilgrims, this a dream finally realised after many years as a pilgrim, hospitalero, and guide before finding my place along the Way.
Last year was the first real season that The Stone Boat had been running, half of the previous season was the shakedown cruise after repairs and restorations, and well over 700 pilgrims tucked in for the night here on the Calle Real. Many of the pilgrims (and hospitaleros) that stayed are members of this forum and have supported the project from the beginning. It was so wonderful to have the time together, and also to share what was created.
So, now I have reached a point where I could use some help to keep the boat afloat for the basic expenses during this time in the 'unknown'. If you would like to read more of the story ... about the house, pilgrims, and the dream, please visit the website listed below. There are links there to donate either through PayPal or the GoFundMe page. You will also find my contact information there if you have any questions, thoughts, or just want to say hello.
Looking forward to the day when the Camino is flowing freely again, working its magic, and blessing us all with each step. It will be good to see you.
Animo!
Kim
