Rain

I feel sorry for those pilgrims walking into Santiago today... for the last few hours it has absolutely pouring down with rain . Add then some wind to that, and you have the "I-am-walking-inside-a-washing-machine" effect. No way to stay dry... I don't care how many ponchos you have :)

Stay dry!

yeah so my wife is reporting. ... super windy and wet where she is

jirit- I have a friend currently walking as well. He has just joined the CF near Melide- having been on the Norte etc- and he walked 38kms in the rain today, reaching Monte de Gozo. I think he is keen to reach Santiago now, rain or not!

Oh my goodness. Even by standards in Galicia this looks like heavy rain, and those winds must be horrendous to walk in. I would want to hunker down in a warm bed until this was all over I think!

Looks like my friend will be paddling up the street to the Cathedral. Unique photos I guess!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Good lord I hope the rain isn't too cold though?...and Margaret it looks your friend could be swimming in!

He's posted a photo in front of the Cathedral so he walked in early. Ground is wet and sky is grey but not raining in the photo. Must be cold- he has lots of clothes on- but also has sandles on as his shoes are so saturated from yesterday!

I hope it's a case of 'cold feet warm heart' though:)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I think that arrival in Santiago has already cured any possible cold heart. He is happy to be there. Oh and it might not be really fair, but I was the first to congratulate him on FB as family and friends in Quebec were all still asleep.

Oh and we actually had 46mm (2 inches) where I live one day last week. Very glad to be at work inside!

A gallery of images of the flooding in Santiago. Looks like large section of the old centre are or were under water

Posted the video and the photos on my FB page for my Camino friends. Ah, yes, beautiful, sunny Spain!! Just when you think you've finally gotten everything under control, the Camino throws one last catch in the gears. Hope all the arriving pilgrims (and local businesses) don't suffer any long term problems.

Ivar, when you post a notice about the weather conditions, I know something's up. Hope everyone and everything dries out and gets back to normal soon.

We are in Lavacolla now.....nighttime and listening to howling wind and pouring rain!! Dreading the last 10km but will head out in about 5 hrs.
Yesterday was definitely the worst we encountered for rain. However, with the ponchos it was fine. One foot in front of the other....no other way.

I was looking at the wisepilgrim app for the Frances route and noticed that the distances don't always add up from one side to the other. Has anyone else noticed this? Am I being overly observant...
Today is Sunday and I finished my Camino from León on Friday. The thing is I am feeling off balanced. I feel like I am not done. Last night I started feeling anxious with the thought of going back...
