1 The Director of the Pilgrims' Office has to be a Canon of the Cathedral according to the Cathedral constitution
The staff of the Pilgrims's Office are employed by the Archicofradia Universal del Apostol Santiago - the Cathedral confraternity established to maintain and promote the spiritual values of the pilgrimage
2 Within the Cathedral there is a large Chapel - the Capilla de Santa Maria La Antigua de la Corticela - which is the "pilgrims chapel" and peregrinos may get married there - and some do regularly!
3 During the Holy Year next year there will be four pilgrims' masses per day all with music. The Botafumeiro will fly at every 12 noon mass for the 365 days of 2010
4 Last year the busiest day was 15th August when 1500 compostelas and certificates were issued between 9am and 9pm
5 To arrange the Botafumeiro contact the Director of the Pilgrims' Office who will refer you to a nominated bank where 240 euros should be deposited. Provide the Director with the receipt and the Botafumeiro flies.
