About your passeport buddy !

You will not leave the airport in Montreal UNLESS your passeport expires 6 MONTHS AFTER YOUR RETURN DATE. In your case if you come back on May 7th you passeport should not expire BEFORE November 7th.

Conclusion, get one you have time....

1- Often the refugio which provides the pilgrim passport will have some free material on the albergues in the province you are in, it will probably not be a full list but you can pick up more stuff as you travel.

2- Yes if you want to but getting lost a few times will likely happen.
3- All sorts.
4- Different countries have different policies and it can depend on what passport you have, but you would be wise to do as Ulysse says and get a new one now.
