Reconstructing Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thank you, @mspath. Wonderful footage.
I'm not generally enamored of drones, but it was wonderful to see one at work in such a place to get such precise imaging - whatever it takes! And imaging is a powerful tool. (How they built these cathedrals in the first place without our newfangled technology never ceases to boggle the mind.)
After watching this in the truest sense,
...Godspeed.
Indeed. But not too fast.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I had been thinking recently about the rebuilding of Notre Dame, a cathedral where I was priviledged to worship some years ago. I recall how the Gospel was read in English and one or two other languages, as well as French, and the reading was interpreted for the congregation in those same languages. I felt like a worshipper and not simply a tourist. This gave me a link to that church which has lasted for many years. When the reconstruction is completed, apparently a couple of years from now, I shall make a stop in Paris on the way to my next pilgrimage in Spain and make a point of worshipping there again. Thank you @mspath for sharing the video.

Read/watch this splendid reportage from CBS news dated 26/12/2021.
Reconstructing Notre Dame Cathedral

After watching this, in the truest sense,

Thank you so much for posting this. It is a truly monumental task but it looks as if progress is being made with amazing new technology. It makes it even more inspiring as to how it was built in the first place.

Albertagirl,
When you do return to Paris pause for a bit on the parvis/place in front of the cathedral to ponder the weight of history.
Hidden below are Roman ruins. The medieval camino route out of Paris crosses the Ile de La Cite in front of the cathedral onto the left bank and then follows the rue Saint Jacques towards the south.
...How splendid it shall be for all to gather there again !

This was very interesting-- I've been wondering how the work has been proceeding. I remember I was at the Albergue de peregrines San Esteban in Castrojeriz the night it burned. -- A friend in the US texted me - I had just gotten in bed, and she asked me how I was because I loved Paris so much. "God in Heaven" I thought, "What has happened to Paris?" I hopped on into the kitchen in just a long t-shirt and my underwear-- my feet were freezing --there were a number of pilgrims gathered around a phone watching the flames in horror. -- I returned to bed after a half hour or so, praying to notre Dame for the safety of the firefighters.

Hola @mspath
Thank you Margaret for this wonderful video report. The cathedral burnt on my 70th birthday (my local date). When I received my diagnosis I doubted that I would not live to see it restored, now on two fronts - my health and the progress of the work I feel I have had my prayers answered and maybe I will live to see it a 4th time. Best wishes for a Happy, COVID safe 2022.
