Relief Map of Camino Frances

Somewhere between Leon and Villafranca del Bierzo, maybe on the wall of an albergue, I saw a plastic coated 3D wall map of the camino Frances - the kind of thing you used to see on classroom walls. It was a great way to show the highs and lows of the walk. I have been searching the internet to see if I can purchase one somewhere but have had no luck. Is there anyone out there who knows what I am trying to describe and can give me any hints as to where I might find one or even how to better describe it so I can search more efficiently for it.
Thanks
Laura

hi John

Thanks for your speedy response! A great link which I know I will use in the future but not what I was meaning Im afraid. The map I am looking for is a long (maybe two foot) rigid map which would be attached to a wall. Any more suggestions?

Thanks

Laura

Hi laura

I was also looking for a map to be hung ona wall. i was particularly fascinated by the maps hanging on some cafes along the camino. I tried looking for a map in santiago. All I could find a puzzleset of the map of the camino. It was great fun putting it together ;-)/ I hope the next time, i could find something else

regards
Bharat

The pilgrim office in Roncesvalles has a huge map of the camino frances on their wall. It must be 3m long and it shows forrests and mountains and the road with graphic monuments at towns along the way. I found a smaller version - over 1m long called Caminos de Santiago. It is by Sua Ediziones and you will find it here:

Thanks SO MUCH for that link Sil - you really are the font of all knowledge when it comes to the camino! Its still not exactly what I saw but it will certainly do until I track down the real thing.

There is no way to order on line as far as I can tell so I am going to try e-mailing the company in my ropey spanish and see if they can send me one and how I can pay etc. My next plea for help may be when I cant understand their reply!

Thanks again

Laura

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Also on that site is a link to
the distributors. Might be worth trying them?

I believe that the relief map Laura (ickgj) refers to is this one I got at one of the souvenir stores in Santiago. Measures 5" x 17" made of plastic and sells for about 6 euro. With no image available from the links MikeB submitted, it's difficult to tell if it's the same one.

 Perhaps with this image you can email these sites and confirm whether they have it.

Good luck!

Dear Lillian

Thats the one!!!

Many thanks for taking the time to post the picture.

I am walking from Villafranca del Bierzo to SDC in May so I will look out for it when I am there. Sounds like a bargain at 6 euros.

Thanks too to everyone who replied with other map suggestions.

Kind regards, Laura
