I received this report back from pilgrim friends yesterday:

Pat and I have just returned from 35 days in Spain, the first 12 of which we spent on the Camino. We walked form Villafranca to Santiago through some very cold but sunny weather. It was at times tougher than we expected. Triacastela to Sarria on the so called short route tested our stamina somewhat. We also took the wrong road where the path leads through La Faba and ended up walking the main road to Pedrafita. 17 kms all uphill, ice cold (snow on the mountains) no cafes, no bars, one or two cars but exceptional views. Near the top a motorist stopped and said we were on the wrong road and must go back. No way! I told him that all roads lead to Santiago. It was further 4 kms uphill to O Cebreiro. Our longest distance was 32kms on the last day and out shortest was from Fonfria to Triacastela, that was the day I lost my hat and my poncho got ripped to shreds and I was not going to walk anywhere until they were replaced. There were too many coincidences and good fortune throughout our visit to Spain to credit to good luck - something was working for us maybe it was Santiago or maybe there is more than stars above us.
