Francois Gagnaire, the chef at this restaurant, moved to Paris in May 2014. His wife appeared to serve as kind of a "front end" manager. So I can no longer recommend this restaurant given the departure of these two players. Might be good, but...

The restaurant in the Hotel du Parc has a tremendous tasting menu. Another person on this forum mentioned this and we dined there our second night in Le Puy. We were truly delighted with the meal and the service. The chef is on French TV - maybe just in the Le Puy region, I'm not sure. He came out twice and visited every table. Expensive, but well worth the money. There is an English language menu and some of the staff speak English very well. When my wife began to puzzle over the menu (her French is limited), I struggled to help her. Then one of the waitstaff came right over and asked, "Would an English language menu be helpful?" Great service, not at all stuffy, and wonderful food.
