3 million euros are to be spent on various restoration works in the cathedral, mainly on the Portico de la Gloria, which has suffered significantly since visitor numbers started increasing in 1993. No mention in this article though of restricting access.

a further article in today's paper states that the project is scheduled for completion by the next Holy Year 2010. It also states that the restoration should include restoration of the originally polychrome colouring of both the Portico and the Capilla Mayor.
