Reusing an old pilgrim credential

I've got a pilgrim credential from my camino adventure 6 months ago, and I'm walking again this week. Will hostels accept my old credential and continue to add stamps to it, or do I have to get a new one?
(I did wonder if hostels check the dates and locations of stamps... and they do! I was nearly not allowed to stay in a hostel in Muxia because I'd forgotten to get my stamp in Lires, so they thought I'd taken the bus. Good thing to learn)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
A lot of people do the camino in stages, so yes you will be able to continue with the original credential. If I've got this wrong there will be a flurry of people telling me I'm out of my depth.

I think it depends on whether your walk is chronological: I started my credencial last September, used it for 5 days, then again earlier this year for another 5 days, and just used it for 12 days. I had no issues using it, and at the 'first' albergue this time they were much amused to place the stamp next to an identical stamp, as it was the last place I stayed on my previous walk. I shall continue with it when I next walk in 2017, starting from where I left off.

Yes, as long as your pilgrimage is geographically logically (towards Santiago) there isn't be a problem. Buen Camino, SY

Hi, no problem what so ever.
Wish you a wonderful journey and a Buen Camino, Peter.

How complicated do you want this? If you are re-starting a camino from the point that you stopped then you need to get a sello from that place showing the separation in dates. If you are re-starting from a different point and/or on a different camino then your only likely problem is explaining to the hospitaleras what you are up to - local bars, hostales etc will stamp anything (bless-em).

If you just want your credencial to be a record of your journeys none of the above is an issue. If you want to obtain a compostella then you need a credencial that evidences a continuous walked journey from Sarria, or another of the 100k starting points, to Santiago. And whether that takes you 5 days or 5 years doesn't matter as long as you can show where & when you stopped and that continuation is contiguous.

Just use it. It does not have to be chronolgical. I walked through Burgos in May, stayed in the municipal, stopping in Sahagun, and returned to Burgos in Sept. Stayed in the municipal, walked to Covarubbias, came back by bus to Burgos, stayed in the municipal, and continued on CF the next morning (I wanted to do the Meseta one more time because of its beauty). All using the same credential.

The credential is all you need, old or new. Relax.

How can it not be chronological if you are using an old credencial now?

Use it. The albergues don't care when you started using it, nor if you are skipping bits. If you want a Compostella, then what Tincatinkwr said: last 100km by foot with 2 stamps a day.

Actually, you can do whatever you want with your credential until the last 100km and the Muxia/Fisterra route. It can be a mess of routes and stretches, no one checks it out/cares before...
They do check the last 100km before Santiago: be sure you get 2 stamps a day on that stretch. Sames goes for Muxia and Fisterra. Stamp twice a day (don't miss the one place to stamp on the Muxia to Fisterra/Fisterra to Muxia stage!), they dearly check it as well. There are certificates at stake here!!!
The order in which they appear on your credential doesn't matter either (and thus it can be non-chronological ;) ) as long as you have 2 dated stamps per day. I had to put my stamps out of the provided space last time, because I had no room anymore. They were everywhere on my credential: I just had to point them out to the guy at the pilgrim's office who had a hard time finding them, and it was ok :)
Buen Camino!

I had no problems using my year old credential. Planning to use it again for next year when I walk from Porto (maybe Lisbon) to Santiago. I don't think anyone checked the date, but then I wasn't paying to much attention when I checked into most hostels. To reinforce that view I used hotels for a couple of time so the dates weren't concurrent for this year as well. I already have my credential from previous years so not bothered about the last 100 km anyhow.
