Hi, Pilgrims staying at Roncesvalles albergue at the moment (March – April 2022) – what do you need in the way of sleeping equipment? I understand that a disposable sheet and pillow case is now included in the cost? Are you bringing your own sleeping bags? Or is there heating, and you are using liners? Many thanks!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
I was there on the 16th and used a liner. You will need earplugs!!
And were you warm enough with just a liner?

P.S. I always take earplugs!!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I was warm enough.
Just trying to work out how one can be warm enough in Roncesvalles in March with just a liner.
Was there heating?
Did you wear all your clothes?
Was the weather particularly warm that week?
Thanks!

The Roncesvalles albergue has never provided blankets, except in perhaps some extreme cases.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Yes, that's why I am wondering how pilgrims are staying warm in Roncesvalles in March.

I was warm enough in my fleece liner and wore a baselayer bottom and a baselayer top. I did not bring a sleeping bag this Camino.

I was there last week on a cool and rainy night. There is heating in the Albergue, but I used a liner and kept my base layer on. It was fine… The guy in the next bunk had a sleeping bag but he just used it like a duvet.

Take a sleeping bag you'll need it at some stage any way!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.
