Room or small flat in Santiago for a few weeks - any suggestions?

Hi peregrinos and people who know Santiago well, I am hoping you can help me (and that I'm in the right forum, if not please move this post). I am looking to walk the camino again, alone this time, and my very good friend who is 72 and not able to walk it herself wants to go to Santiago to wait for me to arrive and meet me on the square when I walk in. Being able to meet there would be very important and special to both of us and something we have been hoping to do for a long time. We have both been to Santiago before and love it, but hotel rooms get expensive if you want to stay for a couple of weeks like she is planning on. She wants to stay for a while before I get there to experience Santiago on her own and I would like to share with her when I arrive or at least live somewhere close by. Does anyone know of a reputable firm that lets rooms or small flats for a couple of weeks at a good price, within easy walking distance for a lady who is not very well, and with a lift rather than stairs for the same reason. Preferably somewhere with a fridge and small kitchen and, you know, nice. Also I would be grateful for any advice re what time of year would be best/cheapest/busiest etc. Not in the winter though. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Linda

Hi Linda - check out booking.com - they have a good range of apartments in Santiago suitable for most budgets.
Best of luck with your search.

I would second JennyH 94's recommendation. You can look at a number of different listings but not have to pay until you check in. I just did so for a room in Madrid.

I have rented apartments in different Spanish cities for a month or so and have found some good ones on vrbo.com Though many of the listings are more vacation houses in the country, there is also a good smattering of in-city rentals.

Brilliant, thanks for your suggestions! I will definitely have a look at those sites. If anyone has stayed in Santiago for a week or two I would love to hear their opinions, good or bad, about the places they stayed too.

The rooms at San Martin Pinario are only around €23 per night.
I know of two places that rent inexpensive rooms in Santiago.
If you don't find anything, PM me and I'll dig up the addresses.
