In another forum (about safety along highways) I found this Spanish news report about improved signalisation between Medellin and San Pedro de Merida on the Camino Mozarabe. I understand that the Camino Associations have restored the old route that involves a crossing of the River Búrdalo, and avoids a long walk along a busy highway. When I walked the Mozarabe in April 2016, the river crossing was very easy but sometimes the crossing is impossible.
