I am looking for information, in English, on the route starting in Geneva to Le Puy. This year I did St. Jean to Santiago.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I have seen a guide in the German language and I know there is something in French but haven't seen anything in English. Something for thought, Lyon is a very large settlement to walk through 500,000 people and more living there, many bits not especially pleasant and sorry to say even safe though the center is marvelous and the food is amazing. Do plan to walk around and not through,

There is not a lot of stuff on the Internet on this route however here is what I had book marked previously when I was considering the trail myself. I have been told by others it is well doing and given the terrain and climate might be something to consider for Fall as compared to the Spring.

I don't think you will find a guide in English but I could be mistaken. There is an FFRP topoguide to the route, and I gather it is pretty essential to take an up-to-date copy of the guide put out by l'association Rhône-Alpes as that lists all your options for accommodation etc. See the yellow guide on this page: http://chemins.amis-st-jacques.org/?page_id=6 The route does not go through Lyon, (though there is a route from Lyon that joins onto the route from Cluny to Le Puy.)

Here are some stages as listed in the FFRP guide and also someone's preferred stages; http://www.xacobeo.fr/ZE1.10.Rha_Gen-Puy_e.htm

In English, Robert has also put together a stunning blog account of his walk on the Geneva route. It starts here: http://solitary-walker.blogspot.co.nz/2011/10/via-gebennensis.html .

As Kiwi said, the FFRP guide is very good, even if you don't read french very well.

The Topoguide is very good, but alas its out of print, but a new edition should be out pretty soon.

Hi,
If you want more informations in english I can help you a little bit,
there are two ways from GENEVE to LE PUY:
- the main one is described in the yellow guide,
http://www.amis-st-jacques.org/documents-pdf/Chemin_de_Geneve_au_Puy.pdf
- there is another one through Ardeche, more wild, near VALENCE,..described in the green guide,
but you need the yellow guide in the same time
http://chemins.amis-st-jacques.org/?page_id=6
Next week I'm walking for the third time from VALENCE to ARLES to verify the arrows and to make the gps tracks.
Here is the link to my blog if you want to contact, I'm not a commercial society!
