This was a recommendation by a pilgrim a few months ago:
If you haven't made hotel arrangements, try the hotel "Don Juan"... it is in
the middle of the whole thing and you will be awakened by the noisy goings
on of the storks instructing their young in the huge nests on the belfry,
right across your window.
I have stayed in the Hotel Torres on the Plaza Major and the San Polo http://www.hotelsanpolo.com on the edge of the old town near the river. Of the two I prefer the San Polo as it is quieter. If you want to treat yourself the San Polo has one suite with a roof-top terrace which is I think good value for that type of room.
I have aslo stayed in a aircon-less hotel in the centre of town in the middle of summer. It was hell. If you are there in July/August make sure you have aircon.
