San Fermin festivities and accomodations?

Since I will be starting off from SJPP on July 3rd I just realized that I will be walking through Pamplona a day before the official opening of the San Fermin running of the bulls on the 6th.

Has anyone walked around that time and has suggestions? I can imagine that the area around Pamplona is a mad house...

Don´t worry in Pamplona S. Fermín, but careful because the albergue municipal is closed, but you can find in Trinidad de Arre, Villava, Paderborn (Pamplona) , and two in Cizur Menor.-
