You seem to have done some research on buses to Sarria via Lugo, from Santiago de Compostela.
Could you tell me what day of the week the 21:30 bus departs ?
Because , if so, I gave incorrect advice to McPat on thread ' First Time Walkers' a few weeks back.
His Ryanair flight arrived at 20:50, and I said last bus left at 20:00.

I have checked your link to Alsa, but get an error, not found, but one can link to
http://www.alsa.es/
I have given specific dates, e.g.next Sunday 25 Sept 2011, times from Santiago to Lugo travel at following times 08:00 09:45 16:00 18:00 only, and if one checks itinerary, does not seem to stop at Santiago Airport, stops at following locations ACoruna. Betanzos, Guitiiriz, Lugo.

The Empresafreire bus from Santiago to Lugo
http://www.empresafreire.com/
does stop at Santiago Airport 10 minutes later from Santiago departure time.
I have checked this website for date 25 Sept 2011 and find following departure times from Santiago,
07:00 11:00 16:00 17:00 18:30 20:00.

Clicking on open ended date does throw up more times, but I cannot find any bus departing from Santiago after 20:00 if one enters a date in the future. I invite your readers to check these times, and throw some light on this mystery of the 21:30 bus from Santiago to Lugo.

You were right with your info to McPat. the 21.30 bus runs only on Sundays and only during termtime, likewise the friday bus at 21.00. I imagine these are for teh benefit of University students who want to go home for the weekend. I'm not sure when term starts for Spanish universities, schools have been drifting back over the last couple of weeks.
There is a direct bus from Santiago to Sarria which does not go via the airport. I know because I travelled on it last October but I cannot find any info. I'll enquire next time I am in Santiago bus station (October :) )

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Sue,
many thanks for that clarification. I was wondering what 'periodo lectivo' meant.
'Academic year, school term' the translator said.
My heart goes out to some innocent pelegrino waiting at the bus stop at Santiago Airport for the last bus at 21:30, which never arrives.

This is useful to know for my next planned trip next year with friends.

Yes, that would also be useful to find times of direct route to Sarria.
I had my sights set on beginning at O'Cebreiro next year.

They have changed the time of the direct bus from Santiago to Sarria, it now goes at 18.00, arrives 21.00 (ticket bought on bus)

The 17.30 bus from Lugo to Sarria, MONBUS, continues to Piedrafita do Cebreira via the LU633, which is the road that runs past O Cebreira.
There are direct buses from Santiago to Piedrafita, run by ALSA.
Dep: 08.00 Arr: 11.20
09.45 13.10
14.00 17.15
21.30 00.50
23.15 01.55
These buses seem to go via A Coruna and Lugo so it is an awful long journey, better to get it from Lugo I think. Also Piedrafita is 4kms from O Cebreira so it entails a walk or a taxi ride.
Hope this is useful.

Sulu, many thanks for the update. Yes , I would like to do the trek from O'Cebreiro to Sarria in one day.
I realise this is 45km, according to John Brierley's guide, and so would like to enjoy this way by making use of a taxi trip for part of this. If I wished to begin from O'Cebreiro, and would like to include a visit to Samos, what would be your advice. Maybe walk to Biduedo, get taxi here to Samos to explore, and then walk to Sarria from Samos. Hopefully this might make this into a day's walk. A few friends wish to begin from Sarria, but as I have obtained my Compostela, am interested in exploring some historic locations, while my friends plod on. :D

Hi, I did check schedule and it looks like the bus from Santiago to Lugo Sarria during the week is on the hour. Can someone tell me how I get from RyanAir to bus station once I arrive. My flight arrives at 5pm and would like to be on the bus at 16:00, I still have to take a cab to Tricastle.
Many thanks for the replies to my other post!!!

Two things:

1. The bus to Lugo Stop 10 minutes later in front of airport (main exit to your right, pay the driver). (you do not need to go back to the bus station in Santiago.)

2. If you arrive at 5pm you can not take the 16:00 bus (16:00 = 4pm) but probably you can get the 17:00 (5pm) arriving at the airport at 17:10 (5:10pm)
Buen camino. Jorge

Hi, do you know if this bus schedule is still valid for 2016? I'm arriving in Santiago Airport at 19:30 on March 12th 2016 and would like to get to Sarria on that Saturday night. I'm finding it difficult to find definite information on timetables. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! All the best Anne.

Last bus from Santiago Labacolla Airport to Lugo 12 March 2016 leaves 1840. Si yo fuera tu ,,, find a place to stay in Santiago and travel to Sarria in the morning.

Empresa Freire is the service provider from Santiago to Lugo, Santiago Airport to Lugo (not all buses stop at the airport) and Santiago airport shuttle (hourly).

Empresa Freire (Santiago to Lugo)

Monbus provides service from Lugo to Monforte de Lemos with stop at Sarria. Monbus also has service from Santiago bus station to Monforte de Lemos which may work to fill holes in travel plans.
http://www.monbus.es/es

ALSA provides service from Santiago bus station to Lugo. (Usually does not match Monbus timings)
https://www.alsa.es/en/home

Renfe provides train service from Santiago to Monforte de Lemos and Monforte de Lemos to Sarria. It also provides service to A Coruna and from A Coruna to Sarria. The schedule is such as to recommend the bus.
