Hi, everyone! I’m on the Camino del Norte and saw on the Gronze website that the Santoña ferry between Laredo and Santoña doesn’t operate in the winter.

Does anyone know if it’s currently operating? I’d love to take the coastal route to Noja that day!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Hi, NualaOC's link is for the tourist boat that charges €10 and only operates with 20 people minimum on board. It seems the commuter ferry (which costs €2) only operates in summer and autumn:
https://itm.com.es/deinteres/barca-laredo-santona_2/22.html

There's a number there (although it might not be in operation right now), otherwise any of the tourist offices in Cantabria will be able to tell you!)

By the way, how are things on the Norte? My university is on spring break from today so I was thinking of popping down - but things aren't looking so 'springy' at the moment...

Thank you, both!

Jan_D, so far so good weather wise! I’m in Bilbao right now, and the past few days have been gorgeous mornings and rainy afternoons or evenings.

Just got a message from a Spanish forum member who sends along these pictures, both taken today, which should answer the question! Buen camino to everyone, looks like the weather is great, too!View attachment 40224

Ah, the memories! I wish I could be stepping onto that boat right now, instead of working at my desk!

Laredo to Santoña (16:00h) on the first day it started operating on March 10th. Yes it’s wirking but weather dependent Buen Camino

That is awesome news. Thanks peregrina2000 and Collette! And thank you for the albergue tip, Collette! It’s been a relatively quiet Camino pilgrimwise so it’s nice to hear about others’ experiences.

Correction the Vidiago albergue: CASERON de Vidiago

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

At the time I didn't know it was as casual as you say, so was a little nervous... When I walked the Norte almost two years ago, I didn't really know where to stand to wait for the ferry as the beach is quite long and no one else was waiting. I'd never used a commercial ferry or boat service before that just "bellied up" to the beach! Another sign posted at the waiting spot would have been helpful to me. I gestured to a couple of locals on the beach and they each pointed to a different spot!

I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
