Sarria - May 21

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Doing my first Camino this May. My husband is walking from Leon and I will meet up with him in Sarria. Training and gathering gear. Very excited and hoping this old lady is not biting off more than I can chew.
You should be fine! If you are concerned check out a thread I started, titled
"Are you 70+ and still walking caminos?"
There are many, many inspiring answers that will dissapate your fears!
Buen Camino!

lots of places to stop, coffee and rest between sarria and compostela - you'll be grand
Buen Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Mid-seventies and going again this fall. Take it slowly and savor! I did many miles a day on my first Camino and no rest days. This time going to take my time and explore side trips and spend time in villages that intrigue me rather than plow ahead.

My first camino was along the Portuguese route, age 58. My second was from Sarria at age 60. I walked from SJPDP at age 66 (my 6th camino), and my last camino was completed at age 69 along 3 separate routes (Jesus Trail in Israel, Via Francigena from Tuscany to Rome and the Camino Finisterre). I'll be on the trail again in late May.
You will be fine. There will be plenty of other hikers by May along the Frances (some fo them very seasoned) for guidance. Just remember that it is not a race. Pack light-- remember that Spain is not at the end of the world. You could purchase anything you might need there, so there is little need for "just in rare case" items.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Thanks for boosting my confidence everyone. I’m counting on other pilgrims to spur me on when I’m doing those challenging climbs. Jim, just read about the Jesus Trail. Sounds amazing!
