Has anyone here left the CF in Sarria to walk last 100k from Ourense instead? If so, thoughts? comments? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Perfectly possible, you will be on the Via de la Plata then.

I've done both. I walked the CF in 2014 and 2015 where I went through Sarria. This year I walked the Via de la Plata and the Camino Sanabres and went through Ourense. I loved Ourense!!! Especially the thermal springs. The city itself is wonderful and relaxing my muscles in the thermal springs after walking all the way from Sevilla was heaven on Earth. Although I enjoyed the walk from Sarria to Santiago, I must admit to having a personal preference for the route from Ourense to Santiago. Tip - if you do decide to walk from Ourense make sure you either walk or take a taxi up to Pico Sacro (the Sacred Peak). From there you can just barely see the Santiago Cathedral from that distance. The next day you will walk into Santiago from a different route than all the others walking in on the CF.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Yes! I did in May. Walked from Leon to Sarria and then took the train to Ourense. Wonderful experience. Take a day in Ourcnse to explore the cathedral and the hot spring baths. I appreciated the differences in the routes by walking a bit of both. enjoy!
Buen camino y Ultreia!

Thanks for the reply. I walked CF from Leon in 2016. Last year I did SJPP- Burgos. So this year, With about 3-4 weeks total - I'm debating starting in Burgos and then joining VdlP for that last bit- or possibly doing Sanabres instead of CF.

So many options.

Was it easy to transfer from Sarria? Were there many albergues, etc from Ourense on? I've already walked the Sarria route-so looking for something different.

I have walked both and definitely prefer Ourense. We loved Ourense as a town and the walk in from there was beautiful.

Thanks for posting this, Quinranda. This has got me thinking now. Sarria to SDC didn't exactly blow me away on my last Camino so this may be a better option. Can anyone recommend a guidebook that covers this section at least? Thanks, guys:)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
A PS. to the post above. There are two useful documents available through the Resources section.

One is an accommodation list for the VDLP - including the Sanabres variant. Getting a little old now and probably out of date in places but a useful starting point. Worth confirming that any particular options are still open by phone or asking your hospitalero for advice. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/com...ata-sanabrés-walking-accommodation-guide.408/

The other is a condensed guide to the VDLP by Gerald Kelly. Again this includes information for the Sanabres. If you follow the link from the resources section to Gerald's own website you can either follow his instructions to download a free simplified version or order a more detailed paid version. Also getting a little old but worth checking out.

Thanks for the info, Bradypus. I've been looking into it and I think I'll do Ourense > Monesterio de Oseira > Laxe > Punte Ulla > SDC. This will actually get me a day earlier into SDC than I had planned, which will be nice. More time to relax before flying out.

From what I can see, Quinranda, it is about an hours train ride to Ourense from Sarria. There are no changes required and it is fairly cheap.
