Plan to walk the camino
Good morning,

My son , nephew and myself are going to be doing part of the camino from Sarria to Santiago in July. We were just looking for some pointer or tips from anyone that we could do or see along the way...

We were intending to split the journey up evenly and do it over 6-7 days and hopefully really enjoy the time.

Also, how long would it take to get to Muxia from Santiago walking?

Thanks

Maurice

Welcome Maurice, Sarria to Santiago is a beautiful walk but can get busy during the summer and there is loads to see along the way. The walk to Muxia is also a beautiful walk and should take you about four days. When you get to a village called Hospital the route splits, left for Finisterre and right for muxia. We went left and after reaching Finisterre we then walked up the coast to Muxia, this can be done in one day, 29k, but you can stay in Lires after 15k and then on to Muxia. You can also do this in reverse. Santiago - Muxia - Finisteree.
Buen Camino.

Thank you wayfarer. I didnt realise it was as far. My nephew is 14, son 12 and me 40ish.

From Sarria to Santiago we were giving ourselves 7 days (12kms per day roughly). Would this be accurate enough?

I would love to make it to Muxia

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

it's a long walk to muxía from santiago... 6-7 days would not be enough. likewise, 12 kms a day may be a little 'too slow', there really isn't that much to do in some of teh towns all afternoon if you arrive there at noon. you can easily walk 3 kms an hour.

in any case, good luck and Buen Camino!

(save a day at the end and take a day trip to muxía, it is worth it)
