Searching for photos of Botafumeiro

Hi everyone!

My name is Michael George and I am a National Geographic photographer based in New York, NY. This year I published a feature in the magazine on the Camino de Santiago. You can view the project on my website: www.michaelgeorgephoto.com ---> Portrait of a Pilgrim

I am currently working with a composer who wrote a 90-minute symphony on the Camino de Santiago.

The symphony will be premiered later this year and as the symphony plays, 260 of my images will be played as a visual slideshow to accompany the music.

There is one song entitled 'Botafumeiro' that we do not have enough images for. We are looking to license a few images from a photographer to use in the slideshow during this song.

Do you have images that might work? We need close ups of the incense, the clergy, people watching, etc.

Feel free to email me at michaelgeorgephoto (at) gmail.com

Thank you so much,

Michael George

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I've got some quite nice video footage but no stills. Let me know if you are interested.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Judging from the massive number of knuckleheads standing on the pews and climbing over one another to get That Ultimate Botofumeiro Shot, you should have no problem finding photos to use. The behavior of people at what is supposed to be a religious service is beyond the pale... that includes people shooting photos of others who are trying to worship there while this circus is going on.
Mr. George, I have great respect for good photography, I was a daily news journo for 22 years. I hope you are looking for others' images because you were gentleman enough yourself while in the cathedral to not view it as a personal photo op.

Sorry this is a scan of an old slide----an old nun sat next to me. I asked how many times she had seen the ceremony---hundreds

I sent Michael an email about a source for botafumeiro photos because I hadn't yet signed up for an account to respond on the forum. Since then he has replied to me and I've gotten my account. Here is a slightly edited copy of what I emailed:

------

Just [a few days ago] I saw for the first time at YouTube a documentary video about the history of the cathedral at Santiago. It is presented by a group called Planet Doc. Since it is already being shown for free it may be easy to get permission to use videos or stills. They have it in 720 HD but maybe they have better resolution too.

It looks as if they filmed a private performance of the swinging of the botafumeiro since no worshipers are seen. But they attached cameras to the thing so you can see its view. If you use the video instead of stills you will have to stifle the background music they supply (it's good).

The botafumeiro portion starts at 36:30 into the documentary and goes for several minutes. The title is:
The Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) | The Temple of the Stars - Full Documentary

The URL is:

but if the following works you should get right to the botafumeiro section:
