Segway in Santiago de Compostela

I just wanted to give a bit of a plug for the Segway tour of Santiago. I've done it twice now and consider it great value for money at EUR 10 for 3/4 hour. After instruction, you travel from the Convento do San Francisco, through the Cathedral Square, to the Alameda Park and around the perimeter and back to the Convent. The guide/instructor explains the history at various points (in Spanish) and will take photos with your camera (no charge) as you tour.

If you have a spare hour or so in Santiago, for the price of a Menu del Dia you can have a really enjoyable time and it really is very easy to master.

You can get details through the tourist office or grab a leaflet from the Segway Guys as they tour around.

I've no connection to the company, just really enjoyed it and think others may as well.

Here's a link to their website with more information and contact/reservation details: http://www.segwaysantiago.es/

Cheers

Sounds great! Is that new? I've never seen it or else I would have done it!

Probably more fun than that little train thing with all the embarrassed looking dads in it as well.

Buen Camino!

p.s. Can you be done for drink-driving on these things?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

I don't know how long it has been running for in Santiago. I understand (although I didn't see it myself) that you can also hire them up at the City of Culture building above Santiago. In this case it is not a tour, you are just free to roam around for a set amount of time.

Pretty sure you could get done for drink driving but they've got to catch you first!

I never found that leaflet so don't know whether there is a website or not but there is a basic Facebook page with contact details.

We need to know whether you can qualify for a credencial if you travel by Segway. What is the minimum number of km's in order to qualify?

I'm sure you will qualify for a Credencial, might have a problem getting a Compostela though

Must feel weird on a Segway after all that walking...
It feels weird on a Segway at any time, in my opinion. Fun though!
