September 2023 Camino Portuguese

Time of past OR future Camino
CF 2021, CP 2023, Finisterre & Muxia 2023
Bought my airline tickets - Crete to Lisbon! Arrive Lisbon September 6. Start CP on September 9. From Porto taking Senda Litoral for 1.5 days. At Vila Do Conde cut over to the Central Route at Rates. Stay on the Central until diverting to Espiritual Route. Then into Santiago. Hoping to include Camino Finisterre & Muxia.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

My wife and two adult daughters walked from Lisbon starting Aug 19 of 2022. It was a wonderful Camino! So excited for you to be on this Way!

Any standout places to stay and things to be on the lookout for? To include path challenges or pleasures? Thank you.
A couple standout places come to mind when I think about the Portugués Central Route. First, staying at Casa de Fernanda, halfway between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima, was a real highlight of our Camino. Her hospitality is second to none. Second, I highly recommend the Variante Espiritual. We stayed in the Monestario Armenteira. After the pilgrim’s mass, a lovely cafe/bar is just outside the monastery gate for a good dinner. After walking the VE, be sure to stop by the municipal albergue in Padrón to get your Padróna certificate.

I have both Casa de Fernanda & Monestario Armenteira on my list to stay. Thank you for the tip on getting Padrona certificate. I did not know about it. Now on my list!

I will be a couple of weeks before you, leaving Porto about August 14th. I plan on taking it reasonably slowly and making a 14-day journey with the Variant Espiritual as well.
