After Almeria - Merida last April, I am now thinking about Sevilla-Salamanca, maybe Zamora, in October. What can I expect regarding weather, daylight times, crowds (if any), (closure of) albergues. Much thanks for your help and advice.

Hello Carel

I walked last year - starting 21st September from Seville. It was hot, there were plenty of pilgrims but we never struggled with a bed. I used an umbrella in the afternoon to keep the sun at bay... and I loved it!

It got light around 7:30-ish am... sometimes a problem when starting early... you'll need a head torch.

I LOVED the walk... here's my video https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/via-de-la-plata-yet-another-slideshow.44813/

This is the start of my blog... I posted each day https://caminobrassblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/20/bordeaux-pizza-goodbyes/

Hope this helps :D

Thanks Les. I hope to start about 1 October. Maybe that will keep off the 36 Celsius temperatures. My ideal is 20-25, both for temperature and distance, but I must be prepared for more sometimes. I guess. On the Mozarabe I used a headlamp for early starts before 07.00 hours in the longer stages.
Great pictures in your sideshow.
Another question: were there many stream crossings?

Hello... there was one stream crossing but it was a trickle across stepping stones... nearly all of the time we walked across dried up river beds. Would love to see it in spring! :)

So it will not be October 2017 but possibly March/April 2018.
