Shoes and Water

I am trying to decide what shoes to bring - trail-runners, hiking shoes, or running shoes. Also, do people bring along water filters?

just back myself and defo no need to take filter, the water is good everywhere.
Good walking boots or shoes are really neeeded. I`d say boots but its personal preference I guess and a light weight soft shoe of some kind for the evening, maybe a sandel, as worn by lots of folk
