Should I just "go for it?"

My daughter and I had to cancel our planned Camino for September of this year due to her new job. I thought I had it out of my head and that I could wait until the next year. I sadly put my pack away, that I kept at the end of my bed as I slowly gathered my things. I can't stand it! I feel sad and so let down! I just keep thinking about it. I actually go visit my pack and look at my stuff. (I'm weird, I know) I'm just kind of scared to go on my own. My daughter is the one fluent in Spanish. I know a few phrases only. I will turn 60 years young in April, and I want to do something amazing for that special day. I want my grand kids to be able to tell stories about when crazy old Grandma Judy walked across Spain. I want them to be adventurous. I guess I have to be an example. Do I have enough time to just decide to up and go in April, probably around the 10-12th. What do you think? My worst fear is just getting there from Washington State. I can do this, I think
Hi there, just go for it, just make sure you have reliable shoes. and take it easy the first few days. Pat

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Go for it.... doing it on your own is defnitly the way to go. I did it with a group and then with my daughter which were both very special in their own way but the freedom of going on your own is fantastic. Don't worry about all the things that might happen - Just let it happen

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Your story has stuck with me all this week, since I read it last Saturday. I just sent the link to a friend who just can't make up her mind whether she will join us on our Camino, as she lives in Toronto and the rest of us live near San Francisco. She has no one to train with, no one to compare poles or packs or boots. I hope this discussion will persuade her. I feel you have to go when you can go, as you never know when you won't be able to. Buen Camino! We start walking May 27.

Tell her I have learned everything I know about this Camino on this forum. I am going alone, training alone, walking alone. Tell her I said "just go for it"

Totally agreed with Joodle, I am walking May this year, have studied the forums contributors and watched the videos, it has (hopefully) taught me what I need to know.
I am training alone, walking alone but it seems you'll never be alone on the Camino unless you want to

I may see you out there Roger . I am walking May 12th and stopping at Orisson. I'm a pretty fast walker, as I learned to adjusted my pace to my 6'8 husband. I'm going to force myself to slow down and find my own natural pace.

I'll be 10 days behind and also a fast walker needing to temper my pace, especially as I have plenty of time,

I just "went for it!!" I booked my flight into Biarritz for May 10th. I wanted to go to celebrate my 60th Birthday in April, but that just wasn't going to work. I just told my husband that I wasn't going to go until next year, but I couldn't stand it. I'm doing the work! I'm baby stepping!! My husband is going to be a bit surprised. He is very supportive and knows that this is vital to my soul!
Baby stepping? You aren't a Flybaby by any chance are you?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
