I know chacos can get wet, but any thoughts on showering daily with chacos at albergues?

Trying to reduce weight on pack and eliminate flip flops

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I always shower in my chacos. Sure the straps get wet, but they dry. I couldn't walk around town after walking in flip flops, so I need my chacos. That means it is either shower in my chacos or bring a third pair of shoes.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking- I wouldn’t need the flip flops for anything other than showering so if I can do chacos in the shower, then I’d be set- but the website doesn’t mention daily shower use 😋

Well, since my daughter wore Chacos for several summers as a river rafting guide, I can tell you with confidence that the shoes will bear up well with a daily shower, though Dave's idea is a cute one.

Agreed! And great to know thanks!

You could also purchase the absolute cheapest rubber shower shoes from a thrift shoppe for about 2 dollars and use those just for showering. They weigh so little I do not even consider it as carrying a second or third pair of shoes. They are literally disposable, which is actually what I do with them before flying home.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Haha, @trecile - You are feeling in need of some forum excitement? (I'm with you - I shower barefoot, too.)
Well, you guys are nuts. Do you have any idea about all the gunk that is on those shower floors?!

I will admit there are times when the water in the shower rises above the level of your feet because of clogged drains, at which point it is all pointless. But that is yet another reason why at my ripe old age I am gravitating over to private accommodations, where the showers generally drain just fine.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

This is exactly what I do, too. I must have Chacos with me, and it seems pointless to bring three pairs of shoes, so Chacos in the shower it is. They feel soooo goood after wearing walking shoes all day :)
Buen Camino!
