Sierra de la Demanda

Time of past OR future Camino
question?
We are thinking of taking a short detour a bit south into the Sierra de la Demanda. Does anyone have any insight as to doing this? I was thinking about taking a bus south and then walking east parallel to the camino for a ways and then returning to the way further along.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
There is a potential route from Najera down to Badaran and then West via San Millan de la Cogolla, Ezoray etc vi the LR-205, LR-111 and BU-813 / 820 into Burgos. There is a scattering of accommodation. Finding an off-road route will require some hard-core research. If you wanted to get as far south as the monasterio at Santo Domingo de Silos then its the LR113 from Najera to Barbadillo BU-825 to Salas de los Infantes, N234 to Hacinas and BU-910 to Santo Domingo. You can (could) get a bus from there to Burgos. Accommodation seems to be even thinner on the latter route though there is some in Viniegra, Barbadillo & Hacina and at Santo Domingo. Total distance from Najera 109k it will feel more like 125k with the ascents & decents. Pretty country though. Happy planning.
