Hi, guys.....
The news is good today. I had a consultation visit and evaluation by my surgeon of my inguinal hernia, and he saw no reason to discourage my pilgrimage on 9/15. He did give me specific guidance to monitor the hernia, and he wants to schedule surgery after I return. With all the information from the ultrasound, exam, and background about what the pilgrimage entails, he was ok with my going.

So.. my backpack is all ready to go, and I'm excited that the departure is soon (leaving on 9/13). My son, Caleb, who will accompany me for the first ten days out of St Jean, seems even more excited than I am :)

Whew!!!! Keep me in your prayers and thoughts, friends. You've all been a blessing.

That's a big relief. I'll bet you'll be happy to get away from the smokey Northwest!

Hi Dave of Davebugg of just Bugg,

I know the feeling! I am also leaving on the 13th, but heading first to Barcelona for a few days, then of to Pamplona, start walking on the 20th. My bag is packed I'm ready to leave!! I wish you well and although I don't know you, you will be in my prayers on the Way!

Wow.... thank you all. This group provides a wonderful cadre of support and inspiration. Discouragement and disappointment can get in the way of appreciating all that one has available to him/her. For me, this forum isn't only about information, but also about camaraderie and encouragement.
