• We are struggeling with some issues with images and attachments not loading on the forum. This is some left-over problems from the other day. We have back-ups of everything, so nothing is lost, we just need to link things up again so that it works. In short, we are working on it. Sorry! Ivar

I will be leaving SJPP on Monday, May 29, 2017. I need to buy lunch for my walk to Orisson and heard that there is a very good outdoor market on Monday to buy sandwiches, meat and such. Does this exist, and if so where? In the alternative, I arrive by train that morning in SJPP. Is there any sort of market between the train station and the pilgrim office? - Thanks - Steve

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The outdoor market in SJPdP is held at the Place des Remparts.
There is no large store for food between the rr station and the Pilgrim Office at 39 rue de La Citadelle. However there are food shops on the rue d'Espagne which is the continuation of rue de La Citadelle as you first go west out of town on both caminos.

The shops Meredith mentions will make you sandwich for the next day, they generally do not open before 9am. However there are a few cafes on said street open for the pre-dawn rush.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

It's not necessary to leave SJPDP before 9:00 if one is just walking to Orisson. I left around 11:00 and arrived at Orisson in the early afternoon.

True, unless you have your heart set on a lower bunk.
Besides it is fun sitting on the deck on a sunny day, taking in the expansive view of the lower Pyrenees and cheering on the pilgrims slogging their way onto Roncevalles.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
