Sleeping bag liner or sleeping bag for mid august 12 day camino?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
There aren’t always blankets and some of the ones available aren’t particularly clean. But you will most likely be ok with a liner in August and early September. There may be a night or two when you’ll need to put on whatever layers of clothing you have to keep warm. I also found that my poncho laid on top of me kept some heat in when it was cold—in October.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I began my Camino May 1st and carried both a silk liner and a down quilt, both were very light weight but I could have left the quilt at home 90% of the time. I agree with layering clothes or using the occasional blanket available if needed, you’ll be plenty warm.

Slept with a silk sleep sack on the Norte all the way to November 1st. You can always sleep in your clothes if you get cold. I doubt if you will get cold in August on the Camino, especially being from Ireland. You should have no problem at all!!! Don't waste space and weight with a back pack.

August of last year I walked from Logrono to Fromista and just carried a silk liner. It worked perfectly and as others have said, an additional blanket will suffice in case of any cool nights.

What do you think?

No question . . . liner. Look at the average temps for the Camino in August . . . dare I say more? Side note. Since you have a couple of Camino's under your belt, you also know that alburges' typically have blankets for those rare occasions where it might be necessary.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Walked the CF in July, 1st to 27th.
In 2 Albergues it was really to cold for my silk liner. In both no blankets available.

In Burgos we had 38°C day temp, and 7°C in the next morning. Windows open, no spanish walkers in room ;).
If I walk a Camino again, I'll take a lightweight, thin sleeping bag with me.

just a liner, even that will be too much some nights. I only needed a sleeping bag in the municipal in o cebreiro. I couldn't find any blankets and it was quite cold in the mountain

Yes, you can get away with a liner and, occasionally, putting on all your clothes and using your poncho as a 'blanket' when there are no real blankets available.

I have walked the Camino Frances in May, June, August, September and October. Have only used a liner (and sometimes a blanket from the Albergue), never wore extra clothes or anything, and was always warm enough.

But I guess it depends on each person, their blood pressure, how quickly they feel cold etc.
