Heading out tomorrow for Porto and plan to walk the coastal route (and variante espiritual). Very excited!!! I'm wondering how necessary a sleeping bag will be? I know it can get chilly at times and it's always a good idea to have at least a liner for sleeping in the albergues, I'm just wondering about the necessity for the extra warmth. Can anyone help with this? I did the camino frances 10 years ago in november and was REALLY glad I had my sleeping bag then, sooooo, just wondering ...
Many thanks and bom caminho!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Just got through walking a few days ago. The weather was very cool and very foggy in the morning but rapidly warmed up as the day progressed. It seems that lately, the weather has been all over the normal range. I guess it really depends on where you stay and whether they turn the heat on. By the time that I got to Spain, I was glad that I brought a light jacket.

I use a cheap 40 degree sleeping bag it weighs 22 oz. and doesn't take up much room in my pack. I carry it with me whenever I travel especially between October and June.

Hola Alyssa. I also set out today from Porto today. Me and Godzilla the backpack! Am in Matosinhos tonight. So far in portugal all the hostels have had light duvets and sheets. But perhaps the pilgrim albergues will not offer this, in which case a light sleeping bag may come in useful to stay cozy at night. Bom caminho x

...Also ask yourself if you are a "warm" or "cold" sleeper.
