My husband and I plan to start our hike early September, 2015. Do we need to take a sleeping bag? Is it worth it giving the extra weight?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I have found it still quite warm in September. At the higher elevations, there are blankets, though you may have to ask. You need some sort of "linens", so a sleep sack or sleeping bag is necessary. It will not be cold enough for a heavy one, though. Buen camino.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Keep in ming that depending on how much of the Camino Francés you are walking, it will be October before you finish. It can definitely get cold at night in October (though often it is still very nice). Many albergues have blankets but I don't recommend relying upon them. My suggestion would be to take a lightweight (summer-type) sleeping bag. Even if you only use it a few times, it can save you from a very, very uncomfortable night if temperatures happen to drop. It is no fun walking the next day on little-to-no sleep!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I always take a light weight summer sleeping bag and never regretted doing so.
Buen Camino! SY

I was reading somewhere that some of us are doing night walks. As a natural born night owl I would love to do such walk too. Of course I can choose stage by myself (CF). But was wondering if any...
