Sleeping bag

My wife and I are planning to walk the Camino Frances in September 2020. During this time period is it advisable to bring a sleeping bag? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I would always carry a light sleeping bag, but many people are happy with just a liner. If you start, for example, in St Jean Pied de Port (SJPP) in mid-September, it will be mid-October by the time you get to Santiago. Also, if you are planning to stay mostly in private rooms in hostales/hotels, they will provide bedding. Many or most albergues do not, although many or most have blankets available. So it is really a matter of choosing your risk.

In the upper right of the screen, you will see a Search field. If you enter "sleeping bag September" you will find a lot of threads examining this very question.

With the caution about bed bugs, are the blankets, when available, adequately treated so one would not pick up bed bugs from their blankets?

Are the blankets treated adequately? Probably not. Does it matter? Maybe, maybe not. Bedbugs live in cracks in the walls and other hiding spots, as well as bedding. If they live in the blankets in the albergue, they will find dinner at night from someone, even if the blankets are not being used. If you are using the blanket, I guess you would be the first target, but they may have friends in the wall cracks who will find everyone else in the albergue anyway.
