LIVE from the Camino Sobrado des Monxes: avoid Hotel San Marcos

For those pilgrims who are staying in hotels/pensións rather than albergue, be aware of Hotel San Marcos in Sobrado. It's a 3D hotel: damp, dirty & dear. I know that it's difficult to find anything other than albergue in this area but this is one to avoid at all costs! Some alternatives: the albergue in the Monastery is not the worst; there is a Hotel Rural about 15k out of town called Hotel Bi Terra - family run, beautiful setting and cheaper than San Marcos at 50€ for double room. Details available in wonderful apoyo on route to Miraz (also alternative stopping point for this stage). The owner is happy to collect you from the Camino and drop you back there without charge. One caveat: it's fine dining with prices matching (steak is amazing tho! - 14€) and no alternative that we could see. The G&T is worth the expense.
