Chemin du Puy & Camino Francés (summer 2014), Chemin du Puy & Camino Francés (possible summer 2019)
In thinking about the distance to walk for the Camino (particularly from Le Puy), I ended up getting some lyrics stuck in my head from the song "I Would Walk 500 Miles" by the Proclaimers. Anyone else experience something like this? Think it's a bad sign that I somehow connected the Camino with a stalker song? :p

Yep, that's the one that without fail takes me back on the road. A local band that we see quite regularly perform this song, which they dedicated to me on my return from the camino. I have never thought of it as a "stalker's" song, but maybe that's quite appropriate @JohnMcM and @David!
I often found myself singing 'oh what a beautiful morning' at the start of a bright and sunny day on the camino, and when I was finding it hard going would break out with 'always look on the bright side of life'. Wonderful memories

Ooh, I like both songs - a lot. Must get them. "Bare Necessities..." That's great. I knew about "500 Miles." It does have a good walking beat count.

My all-time-favorite "get yer butt up that next hill" song is "Aires de Pontevedra" by Carlos Nunez. It is on his "Discover" CD. If that does not get you up and over a hill - even the Pyrenees - you are hopeless. I put it on repeat and let er rip... It is a stiff, marching cascade of bagpipes, gaetas, and drums - WOW!

Watch it here:
The recording is from a live concert in Castrelos in 2011. Check out the Galician - Basque costumes. Yeah, I know there are also some Scots and Irish kilts, but just go with me here... Turn the volume UP...waaay up!

Carlos Nunez is a musician from Galicia. He played for some time with the Chieftains. His style is traditional Galician and Basque music, but his arrangements are inspired. We saw him in concern locally in September. My feet did not stop tapping for a month... BTW, he also wrote an instrumental tune called "Camino de Santiago" - it is wonderful - and catchy. It is on the same CD.

I am thinking of putting together a "git up there" play list for my iPod for my next Camino. As a rule, I do not wear, nor do I encourage wearing ear buds or earphones for safety and quality of experience reasons. The only exception I make to using them during the day is if it is the ONLY way I will accomplish the day's objective.

I wonder if Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" would work? Or the Stones "Start Me Up?"

Been blessed to spend many days walking with several meaningful songs.

I was recently given another's old iPod. It came with all kinds of music already loaded. While in sauna yesterday, I came across this song I don't recall ever hearing. I played it several times over and over and thought of the Camino.

Today is Sunday and I finished my Camino from León on Friday. The thing is I am feeling off balanced. I feel like I am not done. Last night I started feeling anxious with the thought of going back...
