VDLP Phase 3 is on...almost literally a last minute decision - despite the chaos at UK airports, yesterday I booked a flight to Madrid for tomorrow morning and will then catch a train to Salamanca. I walked Seville to Merida last November, then Merida to Salamanca in March. So now with a spare week, I'll hopefully complete the VDLP to Astorga in 6 days. The Sanabres now joins the list of 'to do caminos'. Weather looks a tad hot for the late afternoons (low 30's), so some early starts are envisaged. I ummed and ahhhed about going, but I bought a new sun hat last week that needs to be tested 'in the field' - so that was the deciding factor. Anyone on the same stretch from Sunday?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Well no problem at the airport in the Uk - checked in, bag dropped off and through Security in 15 minutes. But the flight was late taking off and one change since I was last at Madrid airport in February - a huge increase in non-EC travellers, so quite a delay at passport control. And even then my rucksack hadn't come through. The net effect is I will be getting to Salamanca 3 hours later than i hoped. Then straight to bed for an early start tomorrow - 36kms to do so i'd rather avoid the worst of the heat. Fingers crossed the train isn't delayed!
