It seems a quickly written "filler" article for whatever this "Suite 101" Men's Health section is all about. Clearly, it is not the type of article what would use to plan their Camino (I hope!)
If you look through the site, you will notice that they are recruiting freelance articles for their site. I suspect poor writing and poor editors are commonplace.
Me thinks a better article would have been one introducing the concept and history of the Camino with pointers towards the serious sites available for further research and planning - like this one!

Stay calm: this is a space filler by someone who has picked information from forums and travel guides, and most probably found out about Santiago de Compostela by consulting Google Earth and Wikipedia.
He heard the bell ring but doesn't know where the tower is!
