“Victoria histórica “… El Correo Gallego
“Xabi Alonso”… La Viz de Galicia
“Los dos 'guiñoles' “ … El Mundo
“El arte de competir “… El Pais
” Xabi Alonso decided to party” Diario de Leon
“Xabi Alonso”… Diario Burgos
“¡Au revoir, les bleus!” …Diario de Navarra
Only the online newspaper rof the Spanish Communist Party and the Camino de Santiago de Compostela Forum totally ignored the most popular item of interest on the entire Iberian peninsula-Portugal is also involved.
I am no great fan of sport, certainly not football. Not so the majority of the Spanish people who support their local teams with great enthusiasm (why do Galicians go rabid about Real Madrid???) and who encourage the National side, the current world champions, with even more heart and spirit. We pilgrims are the guests of the Spanish nation and are in daily even hourly contact with the Spanish people and they are warm and welcoming hosts. As well mannered guests, it should only be a courteous expression of polite interest in a subject which fills their daily newspapers and leads off their every media news program and yes which is a burning issue for so many Spanish people… wherever our own opinions concerning mayhem on the pitch may lie. No. I don’t think the subject should be ignored, I don’t think that upon coming down for breakfast and when hearing their expressions of joy or despair one should answer apathetically and then request juice, coffee, and toast. My concerns are all about good manners and polite conduct not football and for those who have already read my opinions on this subject my apologies.
