Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a Spanish sim card in SJPP? I only need one for my old mobile for emergencies & prefer not to wait until the first bigger town. Have probably left it too late to buy online.

Thanks
Elizabeth

I await responses. I need to do the same. Any ideas of which companies offer the best rates? I have a Nokia and an iPhone and need to figure out which might be best to bring. The former is simpler, the latter I will need a sim with data. Ideas?

Hello,

I doubt that they sell Spanish SIM cards in SJPP. You probably need to wait until Pamplona for Spanish mobile phone stores. I have used Vodafone and found it to be good coverage and a reasonable cost.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
No, you have to go over the border into Spain. I've used a "Le French Mobile" prepaid sim, also Orange (France) in SJPDP. Weird how everything stops at the border. Us Aussies have trouble with the concept of borders as we only have coastlines...

I use Orange in France and walked across Spain with my phone last year and sent a few text messages successfully, I'm sure it would work for emergency use as well. The year before I bought a sim card in Pamplona at/near El Corte Ingles and never used a minute of the time I bought.

Not sure what country you come from, but I bought a Spanish SIM from the mobipassport website before I left. (I am from Australia) It was great value, I thought, and enabled me to text and call home when necessary, and also be contactable, which was necessary bacause of my family situation. Might be worth a look.

Thanks for the replies. I can see you are able to get a sim for Spain online but as you need to supply passport details I was concerned about safety. Have now decided to buy a Lebara sim in Paris CDG & should I need to use it I doubt the roaming charges from Spain will be very high. Lebara.fr also will mail you a free sim if you have a French address(could use the hotel in SJPP), then you can add credit online.

Cheers
